143 Louis S. McAnany, age 83, of Paola, Ks passed away Aug. 12, 2008.

Louis was born Feb. 10, 1925 in Kansas City, Ks to Robert A. and Anne (Gumminger) McAnany. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. as a Private First Class in the 4th Marine Division during WWII. He was united in marriage to JoAnn Buckley on Aug. 6, 1955 in Lenexa, Ks.

Louis loved him family deeply, instilling honest values in each of his children that have been passed down through generations. His life was filled with numerous family gatherings and traveling the country in their motor home.

For 54 years Louis owned and operated McAnany Oil Company in Johnson County, Ks, and was especially proud of his new office, warehouse and modern bulk fuel plant in Olathe, Ks. He was a member of the Kansas Oil Marketers Association, and the Johnson County Civil Defense, he was a past president of the Lenexa Chamber of Commerce, and a Paul Harris Fellow in the Rotary club. Louis was an honorary member of the Eastern Shawnee Indian Tribe, a member of the Peter Smith 327 American Legion, and the VFW Post #7397 and a Golden Eagle of the NRA. Louis took great pride in donating blood, throughout the years he was commended for donating 36 gallons to the Community Blood Center.

Louis was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Robert A. McAnany Jr. R.A.F. PO.
He is survived by his wife JoAnn McAnany of the home in Paola, Ks, by his daughter Patricia Hall and husband Vance of Dearborn, Mo., his son Dennis McAnany and wife Wanda of Olathe, his daughter Theresa Spurgeon and husband David of Shawnee, Ks, his daughter Carol Robbins and husband Mark of Overland Park, Ks and by a son Michael McAnany and wife Joan of Bucyrus, Ks. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and by sisters; Mary Anne Textor of Shawnee, Ks and Rose Lee VanMol of Kansas City, Ks.
A visitation will be Friday from 7 to 9 PM at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee with a Rosary recited at 7:30. Services will be Saturday Aug. 16, 2008 at 10 AM at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lenexa, Ks. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions to Immaculate Conception Parish, Louisburg, Ks; Holy Mary Shrine, Golden Meadow, La; St. Luke's South Hospice.
